Yukon Community Pilot

The Canadian government has recently introduced a new community-based program, the new Yukon community pilot program, to help people migrate to Canada. This program was newly announced in January 2020 under the Yukon Nominee program. It allows the workers from foreign to live and work in Canada without labour market impact assessment (LMIA). This shows an employer needs a temporary worker from foreign because the employer cannot fill the job offer locally. Plus, it offers a work permit for up to 2 years in Canada.

This new pilot program will run for three years, and it is made in such a way that it will help boost up the local economy of Yukon’s six communities.

Six communities of Yukon.

  1. Whitehorse.
  2. Watson.
  3. Dawson city.
  4. Haines Junction.
  5. Carmack.
  6. Carcross

Yukon is the smallest territory among Canada’s three territories, which is situated in the northwest region. Yukon is a perfect place if you’re searching for a community lifestyle.

The cost of living in Yukon is higher than in other Canadian provinces as the economy in Yukon moves at a slow rate. However, the higher wages offer more than make-up for the difference. For example, the average salary on an hourly basis in Whitehorse, Yukon is $25, which is higher than the national wage on an hourly basis is around $16.

Let’s take a glance at the eligibility criteria of Yukon’s community pilot for immigration:

Eligibility criteria for immigration

To apply for immigration through the new Yukon’s community pilot, you have to fulfill and use the four requirements mentioned below:

  • Apply for job offers: You must have to apply for 2 to 3 jobs in at least one of the participating communities of Yukon, Canada, before applying for immigration through the New Yukon’s community pilot program.
  • Relevant work experience: You must have the relevant work experience for either of the jobs you will apply for before immigration.
  • Apply for nomination: you need to apply for a nomination to immigrate to Canada through Yukon’s provincial nomination program. You can also apply from the worker’s program (highly skilled worker program) and (critical impacted worker program).
  • A letter of support from the Yukon government: You will also need a letter of consent signed by the government of Yukon. It will contain the details and information regarding your job, i.e., (phone number of the employer, location of your workplace, type of Occupation, no. of working hours, employer’s name etc.).
  • Apply for a work permit: After you get the job offer confirmed and the letter of support signed by Yukon’s government, you will finally be eligible to apply for Yukon’s work permit. Your work permit will allow you to work for any employer only in Yukon.

If you face any inconvenience in the paperwork or any other immigration process, you can help the Canada Visa Consultancy in Chennai. Summing up

The above article shows you the details and information about Yukon’s basic immigration process and how to get a work permit in Yukon.

Note: The Yukon work permit only allows you to work in Yukon, not in other Canadian regions. The most valuable part of this permit is that you won’t need the LMIA, which speeds up the Visa application process.
